About "Planted" 

Our participants are 8 of 12 biological sisters. Their parents (our grandparents) birthed and raised 20 children - 12 girls and 8 boys. Growing up in a small rural Mississippi town, with their father being a well-respected Pastor, the traumas that occurred that they've never fully explored for various reasons. This documentary will capture the journeys of each sister as they navigate their individual and collective lived experiences.

 While this project could be produced in multiple series, we believe a 90 min documentary is the best approach to tell a wholesome and authentic story. We are currently in production and anticipate a completion date of December 2025. Since October 2020, we have completed interviews for all participants, captured individual and group photos for marketing and promotions, filmed and submitted a music video to film festivals as part of a brand extension, and have other film dates scheduled for Summer 2025  - after which point we plan to enter post-production editing.

Their stories will be captured through personal interviews, intimate family gatherings, group retreats, and confession cameras. We've filmed in the U.S. and abroad. 

What began as a search for our family lineage, lead us on a journey to

discover not only our roots but a deeper connection, appreciation, and admiration to the 8 sheroes amongst us, our aunts. 

Growing up under the tutelage of their father - our grandfather - our aunts experienced trials and triumphs that are explored through each series. In addition to the increased demand for content from marginalized voices, we believe it is a ripe time to delicately and creatively tell their stories through film; thus hoping to inspire other women and families to share their stories. A recent shift in the film industry has given marginalized groups a mic and people want to listen.
